Our tea time! Dandelion!

By on June 11, 2018

Today we are looking at an extremely effective herb and at a particularly soothing tea that you can prepare freshly at home: Dandelion!

Whenever I think of dandelions, the intro-melody of a famous german children’s program comes to my mind. In the series, a guy called Peter Lustig explains how things work. In the intro you can see dandelion plants coming up and growing everywhere along the street – even right through the asphalt.
This is a wonderful picture for me, as it illustrates the strong effect that the dandelion has. Because if you see the gray asphalt as the pain, then the young fresh green plants breaking through and the bright yellow blossoms shows the strength of this wonderful plants healing power.

Dandelion is one of the plants that I personally take for long-term-use. I make a tea out of dandelion leaves every few days in the morning and then drink it throughout the day. Oftentimes I combine the dandelion leaves with stinging nettle leaves or sage leaves and also peppermint tastes good.

Dandelion strengthens the immune system and works against inflammation. I myself have had very good experiences with it, but I think its important to drink the tea quite regularly and over a longer period of time.

By the way, dandelion roots can also be used and the roasted roots taste great as a substitute for coffee – similar to chicory coffee.

Cheers!
